Women Prefer The Jaguar XF

It’s a widely known fact that in any relationship, the woman has a strong influence on big buying decisions. Whether it’s a house, holiday, washing machine, or indeed a car. In fact, an article released by The Economist a few years ago suggests that women make 85% of car buying decisions.

Jaguar may not have realised this when designing it, but their Jaguar XF has become hugely popular with the female market. So much so, that the XF was voted the winner of the Women’s World Car of the Year award in 2010 by a panel of female motoring journalists. This result may be surprising, as the XF is certainly no city shopper, family car or even a sexy convertible. It’s a large, tough machine with classic lines, tight road handling and a powerful engine.

Now Jaguar has launched a new XF Sportbrake, which is an estate version of the car. It was the star of Jaguar’s show at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and offers 550 litres of boot space, increasing to 1,675 litres with the rear seats folded flat, which is enough to scare some of its competitors including the BMW 5 Series Tourer. Extra features for load carriers include a soft-close function on the tailgate, to avoid slamming, and LED illumination on the area when the boot is open, ideal for night time loading. Within the boot will be three panels to store smaller items and an under floor tray to protect valuable items. The new Jaguar XF Sportbrake is also longer, has more headroom than the saloon version but should still benefit from fantastic handling and solid build.
Jaguar has confirmed that the new XF Sportbrake will be built at its plant in Castle Bromwich in the West Midlands, and production is planned to begin before the end of 2012. Time will tell if the new Sportbrake version is as popular with women motorists as the XF Saloon.
