Improving upon a good thing is by definition a formidable challenge, but well-known tuning arm Hartge has released a new upgrades package for the already excellent BMW 1 Series M Coupe.

The changes are not big – as it is, the BMW 1 Series that leaves the showroom floor BMW 1 Series Coupe Shrewsbury is already an impressive piece of kit – but it does offer a few new personalistion options for those who are that way inclined.

The already-punchy turbocharged 3.0 litre inline-six engine is treated to a remapped ECU and a new stainless steel exhaust system, which work together to get the horsepower levels up around the 392 bhp mark. According to Hartge, this chips roughly two seconds off the zero-200km/h (or zero-124mph) time, bringing it down to 11.34s, although the overall top speed remains electronically capped at 155mph.
The ride height is reduced by 1.2 inches with the help of a new set of sports springs, and other external tweaks include a set of Hartge wheels and custom tailpipes. A small deck-lid and roof spoilers form the basis of the aero kit. Peek inside the cabin, and you’ll find treats including aluminum pedals, and aluminum emblem insert for the steering wheel, and black velour Hartge floor mats.
