Shifting your home within the city (local shifting) or outside (long distance shifting) takes lots of efforts and need special attention for safe and secured shifting of your goods. You may assume that hiring professional Packers and Movers or a Home Shifting company is all that you have to do, but think again.

Even if you plan to hire a professional home shifting and relocation company, you have to spend lots of time in searching and hiring a professional company and then spend more time supervising process, specially packing, loading and unloading.

How to save money while hiring movers and packers and ensure safety of your goods through out the shifting process.     First of all, make a list of goods that you want to move. You need this list because you have to tell the movers and packers that you want to move these goods to get a basic estimates and charges of shifting.

     In order to find a reliable packers and movers, you may start with asking your friends or family to recommend a moving company they might have used or might be knowing. If you don’t get enough referral, then the next option left is to make a search on the internet and find a few (three or four to begin with) moving companies.

     Before you call them one by one, you better do a little research and check the reviews of packers and movers that you have found.

     You may eliminate a few of them based on reviews and also add other companies if you are impressed by their positive feedback.     Once you have the list, start calling them, explain them when you want to get it done, what are the goods, how if there is any specific large size goods etc They will be able to give you a rough estimate, note it down on a paper.

     Now as you have few options in your hand, you can remove a few of the list and call remaining companies for a survey and meet them face to face and finalize the cost etc and take a decision.

     Ensure you are buying sufficient insurance and that there is no other hidden costs what so ever except what is mentioned in the quotation. Avoid paying cash if you can in advance.

     Now you have list of goods, have hired packers and movers and probably scheduled a date for packing and then moving. if not, you should do it by now.

     Now the vital part is done and you have to monitor and supervise the process. When packers and movers start dismantling your goods and start packing, be there and supervise everything. They may be in hurry, so make sure, no damage is done at the time of dismantling your beds etc and that everything is packed as it should be.

     Check and see if a particular box require more bubble wraps or cushioning and ask them to do it. Be 100% satisfied with everything. Ask them to do proper wrapping, taping etc to ensure more safety.

     Packers and movers usually takes care of all of this, but then for them its just box, for you it has lots of emotions, so better be there and spend some time with them.

     Do proper labeling on each box to ensure you can find it easily when unpacking.

     Ask them to use all space very carefully including the cartoon boxes and space inside the truck at the time of loading. Loading and unloading is very critical, make sure they don’t drop the box at any costs; they handle it carefully and lift one box at a time. Most of the damage happen during loading and unloading, so they better pay attention and ensure the safety.
