Tips For Newbies On Flyer Design With Adobe Indesign

Are you new to Adobe InDesign and flyer printing? If you are, then you will probably need these tips listed below.

While printing and design of flyers is a pretty much a straightforward process, using Adobe InDesign to create great color flyers will take some decent training. If you are a newbie to all this advanced design methods, you will want to know the best practices and tricks to make the whole process work faster and easier. You should learn the following tips:

   1.     Always use templates as the foundation – If you open a new document in Adobe InDesign, you will see that there is an option to create one using a template. It is highly recommended that you do always use templates to help you start with your designs. Templates are a great foundation in InDesign since it gives you all the important settings ready for your document. You only have to worry about the design and not the main basic settings of your flyer if you do this. Just use a template at the start of your design process. Believe me, it is easier.
   2.     Remember to set the right margins and bleeds – While templates will probably set these for you, it never hurts to double check and customize the margins and bleeds. Sometimes you may want to decrease the margins of course so that you can fit in all your content in the layout you want.

You will also want to make sure that you background does not get cut off by inconsistencies in printing by of course adding that 1/8 of an inch printing bleed. The more accurately you place these things in InDesign, the better your color flyers should look.

   3.     Use the snap to guidelines feature – One very convenient feature of Adobe InDesign is the snap to guides feature. This is an auto align feature where text and image elements will automatically come in line with guidelines once they are near them. This feature will help you quite amazingly, if you want a more balanced and precise flyer. If you have many text elements to align, make sure you try this first.

   4.     Only work with high-resolution images – The process of printing requires very high detail and resolutions. If the images that you insert into your InDesign draft are of too low a resolution, they will get fuzzy and show square pixels, especially if you resize them. It is important to work only with high-resolution images. This is the professional way of creating with graphics.
   5.     Do not forget to install custom fonts if possible – Finally, keep in mind that you have the ability to use your own custom fonts if possible. All you have to do is to install the custom font into your computer and Adobe InDesign will automatically detect this (as long as the version is up to date). Since most need distinct fonts more, it is a good idea to put in your own fonts into your InDesign templates.

Now even as a newbie, you should be able to handle using Adobe InDesign in designing and printing. As long as you stick with all of these tips and guidelines, your outputs will look very professional, become very effective and of course achieve all the goals that you want them to achieve easily. So remember these all as you print your own custom flyers.
