Jaguar Land Rover is attempting to broaden its customer base by unveiling a convertible version of the Range Rover Evoque. It is thought that more women and younger drivers will be attracted to the convertible 4x4. Since its launch in 2011, the Range Rover Evoque has become extremely popular and is set to become the company’s best-selling model. At the moment, the traditional Land Rover Freelander, Discovery and Defender models all outsell the Evoque, full-size Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. These luxurious Range Rover models are all expected to outsell Land Rover models by 2030, however, marking a shift in buying decisions.

Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed that there are no definite production plans for the convertible Evoque as yet. Positive reactions to the model suggest, however, that the car could enter production and become an instant success.

Although owned by Indian company Tata Motors, Jaguar Land Rover is a British manufacturer, and one of the biggest success stories in the UK automotive industry today, exporting to 170 countries around the world. The company has just enjoyed its best ever February, with total Jaguar Land Rover sales reaching 32,257 units, a fantastic forty-nine per cent increase on February 2011. Land Rover and Range Rover set a new sales record of 28,029 cars in February, an increase of fifty-two per cent, whilst Jaguar was up thirty-two per cent to 4,288 vehicles.
The company has gone to strength to strength with its popular offering of new and used cars, as well as after sales services such as Range Rover and Land Rover servicing. With more new models like the Evoque convertible in the pipeline, the next few years are set to be successful for the luxury car maker.
